How do we use it?

Identify a specific issue, then list the different perspectives on this issue. There may only be two opposing sides, or there may be many. Even if you believe in one side, you still need to understand the other sides as clearly as possible.

 Why its important?

It's very important to see the other side of any event. You don't necessarily have to end up agreeing with it, but at least it will help broaden your understanding of the problem.

Example:

 
The problem: Spending a lot of money on new public transportation.

Yes. A lot of people are using their cars, and the roads are now heavily congested. If the issue is addressed with good public transportation, many people will leave their private cars and go to their jobs using public transportation.

 No. The cost will be high, and the state will have to borrow a lot of money to pay for those public buses and trains.


Other aspects:

Find someone who has a completely opposing viewpoint to you on a certain issue. Sit down and listen to their opinion, then repeat it back to them. Repeating their viewpoint helps you attempt to understand.
